A Texas woman killed a pregnant mother and removed her unborn child. Now, she heads to death row.

Latterly, Bowie County District Court Judge John Tidwell handed Taylor Renee Parker a death sentence for the brutal murder of 21-year-old Reagan Simmons-Hancock and her unborn child. In less than an hour of deliberation, Parker was found guilty and convicted by a jury of capital murder.

“We are just so thankful justice has been served today, for not only our family, our friends, the prosecution team, our community,” said the victim’s mother, Jessica Brooks, according to CNN.

On Oct. 9, 2020, officers responded to a residence in New Boston, Texas, west of Texarkana, after receiving a 911 call from the victim’s mother, who alerted authorities to her daughter’s homicide. Upon arrival, they found Simmons-Hancock’s body with a gaping slash across her stomach and her 34 weeks old baby missing from her womb. Soon, DeKalb, Texas, officers pulled over the defendant, who was speeding and driving erratically during a traffic stop. Upon further inspection, Parker was found holding a baby with an umbilical cord sticking out of her pants. Hence, the defendant claimed she had just had a baby that morning.
